Or NOT! Last Monday, Sony Music‘s twitter account, @SonyMusicGlobal, tweeted “RIP @britneyspears” with a crying face emoji. Seven minutes later, Sony tweeted, “britney spears is dead by accident! we will tell you more soon #RIPBritney” and again with a crying face emoji.
Fans and followers of Britney were devastated as the tweet was retweeted 6,600 times in less than one hour. However, many fans doubted the two tweets and suspected that Sony’s account was hacked which turned out to be true. Just 40 minutes after the two tweets were posted, Sony deleted them and confirmed that their account was hacked.
A representative of Sony tweeted that Britney is alive and well. A few hours before the two #RIPBritney tweets were posted, Britney Spears shared a video of her family zip lining over Christmas to her 14.4 M Instagram followers.
When she learned about the two tweets, the 35-year old pop icon tweeted a collage of four pictures doing the Charlie’s Angels pose. She said, “Don’t underestimate the power of Charlie’s.” This tweet puts all rumors of her death to rest.
